Under 15s Report

After drawing the first game and losing the second, this team remained undefeated until the Cup games in March. Many of the games played in the middle of the Season were against weak opposition. In fact many were won by 6 or more goals, (18 against Kynaston). Several other matches however - notably the one against Abbotsfield, which we won 1 - 0, made the team fight very hard and produce their best football.

The team reached the semi-final of the Middlesex Grammar Schools Competition by convincingly beating Preston Manor, Harrow Weald and Hendon before being defeated 7 - 2 by Ambrose Fleming. Unfortunately the team seemed to lose their confidence for this game, as a result of being beaten two days earlier by Harrow Weald, 5 - 1, in the Local Schools Brady Cup Competition. It is possible that they were over-confident after winning so many of their games rather easily, and these reverses made them enter yet a third cup game, The Fillmore Cup, with more determination. In an exciting game against Harrow Weald the team had rather more of the play but failed to make the most of their opportunities, and lost 3 - 2.

The team played well together throughout the Season, but Pennicott, a solid and reliable defender, and Shanaham, deserve special mention. Power captained the side and set a good example of effort and skill on the field, and in organizing the team off the field.

To sum up then - a successful season with a slightly disappointing finish.
