Under 16s Report

It would be correct to describe the U.16 Team as a 'special squad' since all the members played for either the 1st and 2nd XI's, and only united their talent and effort for Cup matches. How well they achieved this can be seen from their results, and the success which they enjoyed as a team, brought honour to the School, and I hope, much pleasure to themselves. It was unfortunate that they should have kept probably their worst display for the final of the Rodwell Competition, held on the ground of Wealdstone F.C. in early May. This result however, should not be allowed to detract from their achievement in reaching this stage of a competition open to all Schools in Middlesex. It was a wonderful performance and even though the score against us appears to indicate a rather one-sided game, I know, and other people have told me, that this was not a true reflection of the game. However football games are won by the team which scores the greatest number of goals, and in this particular game, we failed to score any. So we cannot really have any complaints.

The team finished the season by winning the local Schools Competition and in so doing achieved a unique record - that of having won a local trophy at every age group from U.12 upwards. Over these years three members of the team have played regularly for the Harrow team - Henry Murray, David Dury and Michael Shaw playing an important part in the success enjoyed by this team over the past five years. During August, Michael Shaw was with the London Schools' party playing in Denmark.
